In 2016, teams gathered from all across the Hootsuite organization over 2 days to pitch, design and hack together whatever crazy ideas they could come up with. Projects ranged from the My primary contribution for this event was to create a unique wordmark for the event incorporating brand elements and colours.
Using the iconic Hootsuite owl silhouette as a starting point, I explored different ways to incorporate the title with custom lettering. Many napking sketches and vellum tracings later, I arrived at a vectorized version which was then further refined into the final wordmark.
Because no hackathon would ever be complete without of branded swag, we created t-shirts for attendees as well as stickers.
The response and appreciation for the logo on social media was amazing and also helped create a lot of excitement around the event. Additionally, the design was made into hand-painted, laser cut cardboard trophies for each of the winning teams.
